"I'll be Home for Christmas"

Trailers have gotten a really bad rap over the last 40 years or so. I mean when they became the affordable housing for the white underclass that pretty much did it image wise.

Pity.

No really because they'd otherwise be so cool for the purpose they were originally designed for. An independent, and fast moving life style.

No matter if ya use it to camp out or live by your wits on the road these sweeties are the cats meow,...or at least they were.

That blown image problem again.

Anyway I always loved them things. Especially because long ago we had one. Well in way. See it was sort of up on blocks, and we turned into a play house, and tool shed.

When my folks bought a summer place there was this old trailer not unlike the one in the illustration above which came with the land.

So I spent part of my kidhood playing in one of these swell silver tear drops. 'Wish I had it now. I'd turn it into a cozy little home.

So that's my Christmas fantasy. Our old trailer done up as my shelter, life raft, and temporary abode. I'd paint it up like the one at the top there only I'd have Angels, Faeries, and Cowboys,...don't ask.

Maybe I'll write a little christmas story about it,...humm maybe I've already started. Merry Christmas gang!

Hi Uncle Sidney - I can totally understand your desire for a Trailer life - one has definitely more freedom - I just don't know how much sex you would get in winter - I don't think those darn trailers are insulated, are they? I dream of having an old VW Bus, you know, the one with a mechanical motor (I don't know how else to explain - I am a girl), but I figure this way everybody would be able to fix things if they brake - because those darn computerized vehicles you can't take anywhere interesting. Anyway, if you decide to take that swell tub for a ride south (I am a good dishwasher), let me know. Right now, as a Christmas gift from me to you I do my best to keep the cold up here in Canada, right now it’s about minus 28 Celsius (that probably even don’t exist in Fahrenheit, eh).
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I always thought that "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" is one of the most ironic Christmas songs going. I heard a later cover of this song-I thought it was Judy Garland, maybe not...anyway, whoever it was sang it so coldly and with such an edge it made me shiver. It always reminded me of my mother when she got onto one of her holiday pissy moods.

Judy Garland...another homosexual ethnic weakness. That must be why I like her so.

Well yeah the song can be taken in a few ways.

There's also the history of the actual song, and how it was used in "Meet me in St. Louie".

Yadda, yadda, blah, blah...

However within Sydneyland, aka my life it was always a very dear tune.

Full of all sorts of tear jerking sentimentality,...just love that sort'a stuff.

"...faithful friends who were dear to us will be near to us once more"

"...someday soon we all will be together, if the fates allow"

The above has many volumes of emotional meaning to anyone that had survived the AIDS plague.

...to say nothing about the loss of so many close relatives to age, *violence or disease.

*(To overseas readers "violence" is part of the landscape in the States. Like the weather.)

Life, it's a hell of a ride.

Uncle Sidney:

Thank you for reminding me that two people can hear different things in the same song.

Please accept my apologies, I did not intend to be gratuitously insensitive.

Recently watched Judy Garland in "In The Good Old Summertime." Sorry to sound like an old fart, but I don't see movies like that being made anymore.

Hope you find your Airstream.
