"Cobbly Baby"

Cobblies are those little folk that live in your house, and make those noises you can never track down. They also help themselves to your food, watch your tv, and play your cd's when you're at work or class.

These sweeties are related to faeries, but distantly. Which is to say they're not as nice.

Nevertheless they are 'useful' to your household. If you're good to your "House Cobblies" in return they'll protect you, and your home,...mostly.

They draws the line at getting involved in any armed house invasion situations. If the Crips busts in on your crib your on ya own.

For that problem get some Pitt Bulls, and feed them a steady diet of Angel Dust and Whiskey. Do this, and that "home invasion" stuff is 'off' your worry list.

However house training your kennel of red eyed, sabre fanged, hopped up, and binged out demon hounds is another matter.

Hey ya can't have everything.

The particular Cobbly above responds to the name "Fruitloop". Yeah I know, but never mind.

Anyhow sleeping beauty there has been following me around since the 8th grade. He passed notes for me in study hall.

Also these guys stay little for a real long time. Nobody knows how long Cobbly's live.

"...as old as trees, some say older than the mountains",...if ya buy all that Hallmark channel after school whooie about them.

When I finally gets my new home this little guy/gal, I was never sure. Fruitloop there will spontaneously generate more like his/her self, and we're off to the races,...again.

Stay tuned.

"...rage,.."

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

"Homeless Faerie"

Well besides having big feet our homeless Faerie here is of course invisible. At least to most human eyes, and digital cameras.

'But trust me he's sleeping there on the bench.

That's his "refugee bag", excessively large boots, and Draco Malfoy doll plain as day,..or in this case night. Anyhow the collapsed economy, and his 'less' than sturdy family ties have tossed our sweetheart out into the cold.

The plight of homeless faeries like that of the downsized, and homeless middle class has been ignored for too long.

So if you see,...eh, that's right they're invisible.

Well if you notice faerie shoes, (..size 12 wide), random dolls, and or magic refugee bags about you'll know you're in a nest of forsaken Faeries.

Have a heart.

Spread some candy, and $100. dollar bills about. Faeries just loves this sort'a thing. Especially da dough. So remember, candy, and currency. Make a faerie happy.

You'll be glad ya did.

Oh yeah. Support Obama's "Faerie Bailout Initiative",...eh, this one is seriously close to home if ya know what I mean.

Now if ya like please watch this video my pal "Jay" made, and go to his swell youtube channel in my cluttered links patch.

"WBAI News Room Angel"

"Thanksgiving Cactus"

There's a variety of cactus plant that flowers at the year end holidaze. My wonderful hosts of recent daze are the gleeful guardians the one such plant. As you can see above these sweethearts are going to town with their budding, and blooming.

I spent a few very peaceful days with the good Rt. Reverend RPM, and Mrs. As I say in a comment around here,..."I was fed, watered, scrubbed, and rested."

What more can one ask.

In the arms of beloved pals one feels safe, and at peace, and so I was.

Above is the "vat'o raspberry tea" into which I was dunked by my pals for a ritual cleansing. There also was a strange business involving peanut butter, and steamed chicken.

Something about driving out evil spirits.

Later we visited a particularly 'stinky' supermarket, at which everything was behind 5 inch thick bullet proof glass. I was told that they had fresh(?!) goat heads.

Apparently the 'head' comes with a disposable mallet which one uses to crack open the skull. The goat being mostly dead would probably not protest this final indignity.

The clerk,..(inmate?), at the counter informed us that "Nig-Knocking", as he tastefully put it wasn't really necessary. As after the head is properly cooked one could easily eat the contents,..the brains, through the former eye sockets with a long spoon.

These were available he,..(she?) informed us for only $3.99 for a box of six.

Um, we declined these gracious offers, and fled to "Targets' to window shop, and have hot dawgs. Other than the later UFO sighting over the Brooklyn Bridge, and that werewolf business in the subway it was pleasant afternoon.

After all this pre-holiday excitement we returned to the Reverend, and Mrs. historic ivy covered manor. I retired to the roco guest rooms my hosts retired to their tastefully disordered study to continue their research into the nature of the eternal.

Later we smoked opium, and laughed the night away watching Sherlock Holmes videos.

"Watson!"

"Retrieve your revolver!"

"The game's afoot!"

...and so say all of we!

(Rest in Peace Jeremy Brett,...the best "Holmes" of our generation.)

"Underground Railroad"

Lionel is selling its first-ever subway train set, modeled after the New York MTA's R-27 subway cars that were in service up until the early 1990s. These are the same cars that were re-painted red in the '70s and '80s in an effort to discourage graffiti, earned them the nickname "Redbirds".

According to Wikipedia, the R27s were "'Protestant' married pairs, which means that they were coupled together as pairs." The Lionel replicas are Protestant pairs, as well.

The "O" scale cars are finished in a kale green enamel, have real working opening doors and also speak out the subway stops recorded from the subway itself. The four-car (two pairs) set can be had for around $600.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

I always wanted one of these! A real "Lionel Subway Train Set". "O" gage too, big Mama! We had a huge electric train layout in our basement as I was growing up in the 1950's, and 60's. I guess many kids did back then.

However there were no subway sets. So my dad improvised. He put a bunch of regular passanger trains in front a locomotive, and presto! The "F" train!

NOT!

It didn't look anything like a subway, certainly not the "F", 2,3,4, or even "D", not even close, but we settled. Btw, my dad built a subway line underneath the regular railway stuff on our layout. Yeah he crafted two seriously cool layers.

He put together this whole underground subway world. Gee, the new Lionel sets would've looked great down there.

Hey Dad if you're reading my blogs in Paradise. ...eh, I can explain them Queer ones, ...ahem, um don't tell Granny alright.

...let 'me' explain when I get there.

Anyway the racist, nazi, midwest-centric, anti-urban bastards at Lionel finally issued the subway set we both wanted!

...um. One hitch.

The damned thing is nearly $1000 bucks with all the trimmings. $700. plain. $400. for two "dummies". ("Dummies" is 'train nut' talk for powerless coaches.)

'and this at the start of a new Depression!

Don't them jokers read the papers?! Who da hell do they think is gonna buy this crappy stuff at them prices.

The middleclass is currently fucked, and the poor ain't been 'seen' since all that mysterious "hamburger meat" suddenly went on sale.

I'll wait till they goes bankrupt, and buy 2 sets for $25. bucks each.

This shouldn't take long given their suicidal business sense.

I'm Patient.

"The Quality of Mercy"

"The Quality of Mercy" I dreamed this, three times. Three times this quote from the "Merchant of Venice". The poem the prayer from ActIV, Scene one of Shakespare's famous, and disturbing play.

Such a strange night, and so strange a set of dreams I had. Angel's songs I heard their songs again after some years of silence. How to describe them. Tender, gentle rippling tones. If each drop of water in a stream were a soft chime that might be a shadow of a whisper of their songs.

That, and the "prayer" of Mercy.

When I woke up I wrote down what I heard of the prayer. It was not the exact quotations from the play, but for me it was close enough.

"The quality of Mercy is not strained",

Mercy, Mercy, Mercy, Mercy,

It falls from Heaven,

From Mercy falls Heaven,

Heaven is not strained,

Quality is not, not, not strained,

Heaven is Mercy,

Mercy is quality,

The quality of Mercy is not strained,

Heaven from it falls,

Mercy of Quality,

The Quality of Mercy falls from Heaven,

A dream like this to me? I no longer have faith in religion or it's g-d. So why are they still bothering me? What do they want this time? I gave, leave me alone. The songs,..yes they were so beautiful. I was happy to hear them again.

Yes all very nice, but I just don't know what to do with all these little miracles anymore. Thing is do they hear them in Dafur, or Bagdad or Brooklyn?

"Blessed are they who have not seen, but believe.

Stay Tuned.

"Back Where We Started"

Cross burnings. Schoolchildren chanting "Assassinate Obama." Black figures hung from nooses. Racial epithets scrawled on homes and cars.

Incidents around the country referring to President-elect Barack Obama are dampening the post election glow of racial progress and harmony, highlighting the stubborn racism that remains in America.

From California to Maine, police have documented a range of alleged crimes, from vandalism and vague threats to at least one physical attack. Insults and taunts have been delivered by adults, college students and second-graders.

There have been "hundreds" of incidents since the election, many more than usual, said Mark Potok, director of the Intelligence Project at the Southern Poverty Law Center, which monitors hate crimes.

One was in Snellville, Ga., where Denene Millner said a boy on the school bus told her 9-year-old daughter the day after the election: "I hope Obama gets assassinated." That night, someone trashed her sister-in-law's front lawn, mangled the Obama lawn signs, and left two pizza boxes filled with human feces outside the front door, Millner said.

She described her emotions as a combination of anger and fear.

"I can't say that every white person in Snellville is evil and anti-Obama and willing to desecrate my property because one or two idiots did it," said Millner, who is black. "But it definitely makes you look a little different at the people who you live with, and makes you wonder what they're capable of and what they're really thinking."

Potok, who is white, said he believes there is "a large subset of white people in this country who feel that they are losing everything they know, that the country their forefathers built has somehow been stolen from them."

Grant Griffin, a 46-year-old white Georgia native, expressed similar sentiments: "I believe our nation is ruined and has been for several decades and the election of Obama is merely the culmination of the change.

"If you had real change it would involve all the members of (Obama's) church being deported," he said.

Change in whatever form does not come easy, and a black president is "the most profound change in the field of race this country has experienced since the Civil War," said William Ferris, senior associate director of the Center for the Study of the American South at the University of North Carolina. "It's shaking the foundations on which the country has existed for centuries."

"Someone once said racism is like cancer," Ferris said. "It's never totally wiped out, it's in remission."

If so, America's remission lasted until the morning of Nov. 5.

The day after the vote hailed as a sign of a nation changed, black high school student Barbara Tyler of Marietta, Ga., said she heard hateful Obama comments from white students, and that teachers cut off discussion about Obama's victory.

Tyler spoke at a press conference by the Georgia chapter of the NAACP calling for a town hall meeting to address complaints from across the state about hostility and resentment. Another student, from a Covington middle school, said he was suspended for wearing an Obama shirt to school Nov. 5 after the principal told students not to wear political paraphernalia.

The student's mother, Eshe Riviears, said the principal told her: "Whether you like it or not, we're in the South, and there are a lot of people who are not happy with this decision."

"Museums"

Back when museums were mostly free they were great place to cut class or have lunch. In the 70's somewhere after I lost one of my crummy jobs. I spent all day at the Museum of Natural History uptown.

So to this day I equate museums with unemployment.

"Armistice Day"

"Self Portrait on Election Day"

Alright, alright I'll chill down on this Obama hero worship, and propaganda jag. Yeah I'm usually giving anyone in a suit'n tie shit, but hey ya know. This whole thing is a game changer. We're in new territory. Note I didn't say 'Better' territory.

History will tell.

Anyhow that's me voting up there. Btw a nice lady said I couldn't use my camera in voting area so I snapped this outside. Nice multicultural direction sign too.

Stay tuned.
