I was down at Ground Zero on Mayday night among the cheering youngsters. That's the point the very young, they were under 12 or 13 for 9/11. So this was a cloud over their entire lives. Older people like myself are more reflective about this death of Osama. However it's clear from viewing, and speaking to the kids this is like the death of Hitler or Stalin. A demon is gone, brought down. That's how they see, and feel it.

Crowds cheer at Ground Zero, Times Square, and outside of the White House over the demise,..killing of Osama Ben Laden. Young celebrants called this their generation's V-J Day,..victory over Japan WW2. As I say above for them perhaps it is. However I doubt this will end the war. I don't know what happens next, but I doubt it will be world peace.

Those kids are delusional. But let them have their party. Tough times await them.

There's something desperately unhealthy about cheering over the killing of anyone. It just makes it so very much easier to assert the rightness of killing anyone that we might want dead.

It does seem kind of warped, doesn't it? But mainly delusional. All this "Ding Dong The Wicked Witch Is Dead" hoopla glosses over the fact the Bin Laden, unlike Stalin or Hitler, wasn't a head of state with vast military or police resources at his disposal, and his demise doesn't bring an end to any fundamental condition of evil in the world. Not even close. It's just a party and a photo op.

I have no stomach for these sorts of jingo-fests but, Uncle, you look absolutely miserable!

I see the ignorant and naive have fallen for Brown Jebus's re-election trick.

We have no proof that it was "him" they got and never will now he's sleeping with the fishes.

As has been noted elsewhere killing Bin Laden does not end Al Queda nor even slow it down as bin laden appears to have been unoperational for years.
Removing him is just like cutting off one head from the Hydra.

All the yanks where upset by the towelheads celebrating 9/11 but so many chose to equally as ignorant and celebrate the murder of an unconvicted man.
Yes, he was probably as guilty as fuck but he hadn't been convicted of Jack shit.

I would just like to spare a thought for the poor kids who are taught by Gary Weddle, the New York Middle School teacher who took a vow after 9/11 that he wouldn't shave till Bin Laden was captured or killed. Gary has been waiting patiently for over 10 years, and his beard has been waiting more patiently still.

Till today - when he finally shaved for the first time in 10 years....

So please spare a thought for those poor kids of New York who can now hear this idiot blathering at them once more, with no pubic bush between them and the comprehension of his stupidities...

But one does indeed wonder what our American friends are celebrating.

The violent execution of a man of negligible intellectual or spiritual calibre, who 'repented' after years of carnal indulgence and became a fanatic devotee of the Religion of the Desert, and who used his family fortune (oil money from Saudi Arabia, paid for by petrol consumers all over the Western world) to fund his dreams of resurrecting a torpid and degenerate culture (the Religion of the Desert) and of imposing the Law of God (Shariah - oppression of women, oppression of gays, oppression of everyone for the sake of oppression - Allah be Praised!). This is a sad and sordid tale.

So he is dead. But the problem won't die with him. At heart the problem is self-hate, self-loathing - the spawn of a degenerate culture that has passed its best-before-date.

And it is closer to home than we suppose. The West imposed an almost identical culture on the world for much of the last 300 years, with a like degree of arrogance and violence.

This is the story of what the Koran calls 'The Peoples of the Book'.

You said it, Sion.

Chanon, Sidney needs to have his moral fiber and natural joie-de-vivre restored by frequent therapeutic visits from Charlie, Bill and Tait. But that is a topic for another time. I could use a some of their excellent treatment, too.

Yeah it was more than a bit creepy being around a few thousand folks celebrating a guy getting shot up.

Me I would have tied him down, and made him eat pork chops with his eyelids sewn open so he could watch 1000 hours of Gay Porn.
