What an amazing photo. Paris is just coming alight, a city I want to see again (and Charlie lives there!). Strange to reflect that the same sunset at the same time sweeps across the Sahara desert. And here you can see it doing that. Think how many generations of Parisians have experienced that moment every day, never realizing that the same penumbral band simultaneously joins them to the most desolate wastes, all the way to Timbuctu. Or someplace like that.
