"1968 Olds"

While aimlessly wandering around tonight I ran into a swell 1968 Olds. The kind of car that'll never be build again.

Anyway it's unnaturally hot for spring. The streets are full of freaked out proles, and clueless tourista's, and I bumps into my dream car.

It was parked right outside the "Fed",..where they keeps all the gold, and where the guards walks around with M-16's. Hey life in wartime kiddies. Well it had a Fed sticker on it so some gold wonk owns the wheels.

The only sort that could afford one these daze.

"Finally!"

After eight years the corrupt bastards that have stolen all the 9/11 dough, and fucked up all the designs are doing their frigg'n job. They've finally broken ground, and are slapping nut'n bolts together!

WTC Building No. 3 is slowly rising out of the pit like a Martian war machine from "War of the Worlds".

WTC No.3 is that pile of black girders in the middle of the second snapshot I took this afternoon. (Click on the photos to enlarge.) Not what I'd call impressive,..yet. Btw did you know that they threw up the Empire State Building in a year? Each of them recent asian mega structures in about the time time or less.

So much for us being an empire of the past. The future is in Asia. China, India, and Japan own our balls, and that's that. On the up side though we get cheap sneakers.

"They Walk Among Us"

Zombies! Or to put it another way. The "people" in the other apartments. I guess it's the same in all large cities the world over. Your neighbors are just shadows that pass you on the stairs.

Perhaps a grunt of recognition,..which means they know you live here, and probably won't kill them.

Well,..yeah okay probably.

I mean so far I've given no one a reason to climb in through my window when I'm asleep, and chop my head off. Btw that's how some of my local neighbor pals like to do the deed.

If this were an Idaho trailer park they'd probably eat my carcass too.

So far so good. Nobody here wants to butcher me, and I'm cool with the undead I meet in the halls, and stairs. Btw, there's a laundry room in the basement. I'm giving that a pass.

Why press my luck.

The family upstairs is Mexican. ...or something. So when they play their music too loud it's okay.

I love Mexican music.

Also I like the sound of their toddler running about,..I love babies. Well, for a while anyway. It's good being an Uncle 'cause you can give the screaming brat back to mommy, and go to the movies.

Parents ain't so lucky.

Btw, I play opera, and Bach at high volume to see if that attracts anyone still alive.

No far no dice.

The building demographics as far as I can figure is typical for the working poor of the Emerald City. Let's see there's Haitians, Mexicans, Chinese some Poles, Romanians, and a few Russians,..I think.

They could be Poles trying to pass.

I may be the only *Brown American "Standard English" speaker in the building. 'Least I haven't heard my language spoken in the hall yet. Crap I may be the only native born Yank on the block.

New York was always a point of entry to the land of the free.

..and hell.

Anyway my new home is an 80 year old apartment house somewhat well kept by NYC standards. Which means by "normal" values it's a hellhole.

..but a nice hellhole.

More later,..if I'm not beheaded.

*(Blacks are becoming more racist against Browns. So I've stopped calling myself black. What can I say it's complicated.)

"...for the Birds"

Hi gang. I'm okay I guess. Just wandering around thinking of stuff. History, life, fate all that. Remembering all the years I've lived, and the people I've known. Our lives are so brief. Our bodies so fragile.

Fortunately these's lots of laughs, and sex to sort of make most of it worthwhile.

Yeah I was a little nuts for the last few daze. Alot of self pity, and weepy bullshit. 'But as I say it's my blog, and I'll cry if I want to.

However the sun came out, the wind was fresh, and them damned birds in the yard next door was sing'n their brains out. I'm even sorry I thought about getting a .22 to pick them little chirping bastards off.

As I've been saying,..."Happy Spring".

(Btw, that a real Barbie horror doll up there. If you want you can actually order a Barbie "The Birds" set.)

...clearly these are the final days.

"A Simple Life"

For me the era of "stuff" is fading. I just want to live a simple life now.

"Anywhere can be Home"

I came across the above art, and fell in love with it. Click to enlarge it. It looks like a subway car traveling under the ocean with an "Eloise" kind of character in it.

It all looks so cozy, and peaceful.

This is just what I want my new home to feel like,...an underwater subway car with a fictional little girl living in it.

Well not literally, but ya gets my drift maybe. Comfort, peace, tidiness. This is what I want. On the other hand a sink full of dishes. Dirty laundry everywhere, nothing in it's place, and a pile of bills on the kitchen table has it's virtues. So far so good.

All is ship shape, and tidy at "Sydneyhause". My furniture or at least some of it has arrived. Now I needs pots'n pans, and dishes. This closely followed by food.

(My tiny, but cute dinner table)

I'm figuring out my household budget. My gawd the life of a hause frau is hell! Everything is 'too' expensive. Either I get HBO or food. An impossible choice!

Hummm, maybe I could start a small business on the side to cover the cost of such luxuries as medications, clothing, and books.

My oldtime 1930's radio, above, and two surviving pieces from my kaleidoscope collection. I've decided not to acquire too much "stuff" this time around. So what I have now is enough.

Speaking of stuff my dinner table, seen in the "Sydneyhause Ballroom" above, apparently opens up to accommodate more guests.

I still haven't figured out how to unlock it. Well no problem. I have till Thanksgiving to break this wooden code.

About my hause budget I have a few ideas to make dough, hey I'm an artist ya know. I'll get back to you on this.

Bourgeois Redux!

Six weeks ago I was a member of the new social category the "middle class homeless". I slept outside, but still had a job, even insurance.

Only in America.

Anyway from that horror to complaining to the painters. I couldn't stand that burnt orange stuff they slapped on the walls with that weird fogging business at the baseboards.

Again,..only in America.

I had them come back, and fix the damage. At this stage of the game I prefer quiet neutral tones. I've had enough adventure lately,..thank you very much.

Anyway they was cool about it, and all's well.

That's me neo-Bourgeois!

"...a dream"

All my experiences from the last few years certainly the last several months are catching up with me.

Hey I'm good,..just a bit nuts so no change there I guess.

I'm in my new home, but I still think It's someone else's. I'm still trying to get used to being a person again. Strange is what I'd call my current life.

Very strange.

These last seasons have been filled with dangers, despairs, hopes, and surreal adventures. I think I'm, supposed to be dead. I'm sure of that.

Perhaps of exposure on one of those cold nights I slept on the streets or I 'was' killed in that mugging.

Maybe so.

What's happened since. My being rescued by family, getting my health back, finding a new home. All these things are shadows.

The reality is I'm still in that alley on the ground bleeding to death. That or curled up in a doorway or in Liberty park succumed to hyperthermia.

What I've lived in the pass sixty days was, 'is' a dream within the few seconds before my death.

I have a fear I'll wake up at the very last moment. It will be night, it will be cold. I take a ragged breath, and drift into eternity.
